Research Institutes

Stazione Zoologica ‘Anton Dohrn’, Naples

Founded in 1872, the SZN is among the most influential research Institutions in the field of marine biology and ecology. It has one of the largest collections of marine microorganisms available for screening and a large experience in:

aquaculture of marine organisms, molecular biology, taxonomy of marine phytoplankton and technologies for gene expression.

Sampling and maintenance of marine organisms, biomass production through improved methods of cultivation, molecular biology.

CNR  Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry, Pozzuoli (Naples)

The Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche or National Research Council, is the largest Italian public organization set up to support scientific and technological research.

The Biomolecular Chemistry Institute established in 1995  focuses its research activities on biologically interesting compounds. Four main research lines are as follows:

  • Isolation, characterization, and structure-activity relationships;
  • Synthesis, properties and design;
  • New methodologies;
  • Biotechnological development of biomasses and biologically interesting compounds

Isolation of biologically active compounds, NMR and other spectroscopic analysis, Mass spectrometry and related techniques, organic synthesis of chemical analogs.
